MS Dhoni,has been serving in Indian Cricket since 15 years with his golden mane. From juggling between being a ticket collector with the Indian Railways and cricket practice to taking a long sabbatical from international cricket, his cricketing career has come a long way.international cricket debut under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy on this day in 2004. The wicketkeeper-batsman from Jharkhand was handed his ODI cap on December 23, 2004 against Bangladesh in Chittagong.
Incidentally, MS Dhoni was out for a golden duck in his ODI debut against Bangladesh. Dhoni was run-out in India’s 11-run win under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy. Dhoni had an ordinary debut series in Bangladesh. However, Dhoni roared to form and announced his arrival in international cricket during a series against Pakistan at home in April 2005.
Sourav Ganguly promoted MS Dhoni to bat at No. 3 for the first time in Visakhapatnam against Pakistan. Dhoni demolished the Pakistan attack, smashing the iconic 123-ball 148. He never looked back from then.Over the years, Dhoni has transformed India into one of the most successful limited-overs sides in world cricket. Dhoni is the only Indian captain to have won all the 3 major ICC trophies -- the World Cup in 2011, the T20 World Cup in 2007, the Champions Trophy in 2013. Even as he is away from international cricket, Dhoni finished the decade as the most successful captain in ODI cricket.
