Nine held for murdering elderly man

Police have arrested nine people from a hideout in Aagaram in Kancheepuram for murdering a 60-year-old man named Dhananjchezhian.  Police said the men, under the influence of alcohol and ganja, were on their way to attack a man named Murali when they were stopped by a few residents of Govindavadi village Murali had lodged a complaint against a man named Purushothaman, the gang's leader. However, the gang turned on the villagers and attacked them. 
 

Dhananjchezhian, who was among the villagers, was badly injured. Nine others were also injured. Dhananjchezhian was taken to the government hospital in Chengalpet where he was declared dead on arrival.


Police searched for the attackers and arrested Purushothaman and his eight associates. Police have seized four bikes used by the men to flee Govindavadi village.
